Dear Friends and Family:
Spring has finally arrived! The snow is gone! This past year has flown by and it is that time of year again!!! The date has been set for this year’s Fifth Annual Jim Woodman 4 0n 4 Invitational Street Hockey Tournament! It is on Saturday, June 7th and is being held at the same venue as the past two years, Norberry/Glenee Community Club located at 176 Worthington Avenue in St. Vital. Cole has organized this event in his dad’s memory to help raise funds for cancer care research. In the past four years, together we have been able to raise almost $17,000. We could not make this event a success without the help from friends, family and corporate sponsors. Many of the players are just itching to get on the court. There is a healthy rivalry going on for bragging rights… but really they are excited to participate once again to help out a great cause.
If you would like to make a donation to the silent auction, or pledge a monetary donation or play or volunteer in some small way- we would very much appreciate your help. We will need help with the BBQ, baking, registration, referees, setting up tables, etc. Thank you to everyone that has helped in the past… you know how much fun it can be… for those who haven’t attended it is a rewarding experience. We will have some great silent auction prizes, a 50/50 draw, and a BBQ with lots of great food!
Cancer Care Manitoba will issue an income tax receipt for any donation of $15 or more and will also issue a tax receipt for a gift for the silent auction provided an invoice/receipt is provided with the donation. It takes many hands to make this event a success.
Cole is still looking for a couple of more teams. He is aiming for 16 teams this year. If you know anyone who would like to play, please contact Cole as soon as possible at 204 296-5785 or at cole_woody@hotmail.com.
Attached please find a copy of a sponsor letter and a letter from Cancer Care Manitoba confirming support of the event.
Donations can be made out to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation and sent to our address at: 122 Augusta Drive, Winnipeg, MB. R3T 4V3. If you have an item to donate for the silent auction, we can make arrangements to pick it up. You can either contact myself at 204 999-5378 or Cole at 204 296-5785.
Thank you once again for your support! Together we can make a difference.

During the past four years I have organized a street hockey tournament in memory of my father, Captain Jim Woodman who passed away at age 51 in 2004 from job-related colon cancer as a firefighter with the city of Winnipeg. My dad gave his life to protect the citizens of Winnipeg and I want to continue to give back to the community by holding this event again this year in his honour and raise funds for cancer research. All funds raised will go to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation.
Over the past four years we have raised over $17,000 towards colon cancer research in Manitoba. We would like to make this year’s event even better. We will be holding a silent auction, having a BBQ and 50/50 draw, as well as having individuals get pledges for the tournament. We are accepting donations/prizes and or pledges payable to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation. Cancer Care Manitoba will provide a tax receipt for any donations received provided an invoice is received with the prize/donation and will also provide a receipt for any monetary donation of $15.00 or more.

We still have room for a few more teams. Teams can have up to 9 co-ed players. I can be reached at cole_woody@hotmail.com or (204)296-5785 for anyone still wanting to enter a team or for anyone wanting to make a donation. Participants should be at least 17 years of age – and must sign a waiver form. Those 17 years of age must have a parent or guardian sign for them.
Come cheer us on and support a great cause! Together we can make a difference!
Sincerely,
Cole Woodman
