7TH ANNUAL JIM WOODMAN INVITATIONAL

March 24, 2016
During the past six years I have organized a street hockey tournament in memory of my father, Captain Jim Woodman who passed away at age 51 in 2004 from job-related colon cancer as a firefighter with the city of Winnipeg. My dad gave his life to protect the citizens of Winnipeg. I want to continue giving back to the community by holding this event again this year in his honour and raise funds for colon cancer research. All funds raised will go to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation.
Over the past six years we have raised over $33,000 towards colon cancer research in Manitoba. We thank all those who have helped us achieve this goal, from individuals to corporate sponsors and many volunteers. We could not have done it without your support. We strive each year to make the event even better! We will once again be holding a silent auction, having a BBQ and 50/50 draw, as well as having individuals get pledges for the tournament. We are now accepting donations/prizes and or pledges payable to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation for this year’s event. Cancer Care Manitoba will provide a tax receipt for any monetary donations of $15.00 or more provided an invoice is received with the prize/donation.
I am excited to say that we are holding the Seventh Annual Jim Woodman Invitational 4 on 4 Street Hockey tournament this year on June 11h, 2016 at Norberry-Glenlee Community, 176 Worthington Avenue (off St. Anne’s Road). I can be reached at cole_woody@hotmail.com or (204) 296-5785 if you have a prize to donate or wish to enter a team. Participants must be at least 17 years of age. (Parents must sign a waiver). Teams consist of 9 players (including one goalie).
This event brings together a group of friends who not only are having a great time playing street hockey, but they are also supporting a worthy cause. Everyone that has volunteered has had the joy of this wonderful experience of a fun day helping out to make the event a success. Please join us in supporting a great cause! Together we can make a difference!
