6th Annual Jim Woodman Invitational 4 on 4 Coed Street Hockey Tourney

During the past five years I have organized a street hockey tournament in memory of my father, Captain Jim Woodman who passed away at age 51 in 2004 from job-related colon cancer as a firefighter with the city of Winnipeg.  My dad gave his life to protect the citizens of Winnipeg and I want to continue to give back to the community by holding this event again this year in his honour and raise funds for cancer research.  All funds raised will go to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation.

2014 Street Hockey Winners

Over the past five years we have raised approximately $26,000 towards colon cancer research in Manitoba. We have been able to do this with the support from local businesses, community members, friends and family. Each year we strive to make the event even better.  We will be holding a silent auction, having a BBQ and 50/50 draw, as well as having individuals get pledges for the tournament.  We are accepting donations/prizes and or pledges payable to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation.  Cancer Care Manitoba will provide a tax receipt for any donation in kind received provided an invoice is received with the prize/donation and will also provide a receipt for any monetary donation of $15.00 or more.

We are holding the tournament this year on Saturday, June 13th, 2015 at Norberry/Glenlee Community Centre, 176 Worthington Avenue.

We still have room for a few more teams. Teams can have up to 9 co-ed players.   I can be reached at cole_woody@hotmail.com or (204)296-5785 for anyone still wanting to enter a team or for anyone wanting to make a donation.   Participants should be at least 17 years of age – and must sign a waiver form. Those 17 years of age must have a parent or guardian sign for them.

Please come out to cheer us on and support a great cause! We would be honoured to have your support! Together we can make a difference!

 Sincerely,

Cole Woodman
