Assistant Deputy Chief Ron Hamel #244
has passed away.

Ron joined the department on September 6, 1952.
He was promoted to Lieutenant on January 7, 1974, and
to Captain on January 6, 1981.

On October 12, 1986, Ron was promoted to
District Chief, and on March 26, 1989 he
was promoted to Assistant Deputy Chief.

Ron retired on January 26, 1992 after
40 years and 4 months service.

There will be a funeral service on Monday,
January 20, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at
Dejardins Funeral Home,
357 Des Meurons St.

Flags at all Winnipeg Fire Stations will be
flown at half mast on Saturday, Sunday,
and Monday, January 18th, 19th and 20th, in
Ron’s honor!
