Retired District Chief Gerry Smit, Reg. #710,
passed away, Wednesday, October 30, 2019

Gerry joined the Fire Department on February 25, 1968.
He was promoted to Lieutenant January 9, 1994.
On May 26, 1996, he was promoted to Captain.
He was then promoted to District Chief March 11, 2001

Gerry retired on January 9, 2005,
after 36 years and 11 months of service.

A memorial service will be held at
The United Church in Meadowood
1111 Dakota Street
on Saturday, November 9, 2019
at 11:00 a.m.

Flags at all Winnipeg Fire Stations
will be flown at half-mast on,
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday,
the 7th, 8th and 9th of November
In Gerry’s honor.
