We are very proud to announce that we have just concluded our sixth annual Rooftop Campout, which raised funds for Muscular Dystrophy. This year we raised seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) for this worthy charity, which exceeded both the previous record of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) and this year’s goal of sixty thousand dollars ($60.000).
Muscular Dystrophy is one of more than a dozen charities that we support and once again Fire Fighters have demonstrated the commitment that we have to the community we serve. Muscular Dystrophy is a charity that we have supported since 1954 and during that time we have raised more than five hundred and forty million dollars ($540,000.00) across North America. In Manitoba we have raised over one million dollars ($1,000,000) that has stayed in this province and helped people here who have been inflicted with this deadly disease.
Our success is due to the incredible number of people who put in a tremendous amount of time and effort, especially the members of your executive board.
We would like to thank the many volunteers who assisted with everything from road tolls to set up, to the media program and the tear down. A special thank you to the four campers who donated their time so that they could camp out on the roof and to Executive Board Members Derek Balcaen, Chad Swayze, T.J. Belluk and Rob Labossiere who organized this year’s rooftop campout and ensured that it was a success.
We would also like to thank Winnipeg Fire Paramedics Service Chief John Lane for his support.
