Breakfast With Santa Dec 5
The breakfast was started following a tragic fire at a Home Street residence 22 years ago.
Three children playing with a lighter in the two-level house started a fire in their room and were trapped upstairs. The parents, sleeping on the main floor, couldn’t reach them.
By the time firefighters arrived, it was too late – the young children were dead.
The following year, UFFW, 5 Platoon and the Salvation Army led by Mark Young decided to host a Christmas breakfast for children where fire safety would be a theme.
Since then, the event has grown to host over 1700 people on any given year, and has become a holliday hi-light for many in the community.
This year’s breakfast will take place on Saturday December 5th at 8am.
