*Tentative Contract Agreement Reached*
April 19, 2017
Proud to attend this morning’s Standing Policy Committee meeting at City Hall announcing new fire prevention bylaws that will assist in cracking down on illegal rooming houses in the City of Winnipeg.
This will save lives.
Today we had an announcement by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for full funding and implementation of the Public Safety Officers’ Benefit that allows for federal recognition and financial compensation to Firefighters and other Public Safety officers for deaths in the line of duty.
We have been fighting for this recognition for 24 years and we would like to thank present and past NDP MP’s who were also beside us supporting us from the first year.
Great first morning of our annual IAFF Canadian political lobby in support of our firefighter and paramedic health & safety issues.
So far we’ve met three MPs all from different parties and all of them have supported our issues – The International Association of Firefighters support those who support us regardless of political affiliation.
Thank you Ralph Goodale (Liberal), Todd Doherty, MP (Conservative) and Matthew Dubé (NDP) for your continued support.
Congratulations to Kevin Czuczman on winning the 2017 Manitoba Moose – United Firefighters of Winnipeg Best Defenseman award.
