A service stretched to its breaking point:

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service will present its written report on the Strategic Direction Update to the Standing Policy Committee on Community Services, February 5th.

This report, and the data updates contained within, highlight to Committee and Council concerns our members have been voicing for years:

– “There are more fires, rescues, and medical emergencies now than ever before. This has resulted in more 911 calls, longer response times, and staff burnout.”

– “The WFPS is under extreme stress both in Fire and Paramedic operations. Call volumes have increased significantly with population growth, more fires, and the ongoing drug crisis.”

– “This trend is expected to continue”
