The first week of 2025 has been relentless for the United Firefighters of Winnipeg, underscored by the news of yet another building being ravaged by a repeat fire.

This is our 8th fire of significance in the first 6 days of 2025.

Multiple fires per shift and plummeting temperatures are taking their toll on equipment and our crews – Unfortunately there is no relief in sight as volumes and severity of these incidents continue to rise.

As we draw awareness to the increased risk of cancer faced by Firefighters during #FireFighterCancerAwarenessMonth, it’s evident that Winnipeg Firefighters are continuing to face unprecedented levels of occupational exposure to this deadly disease.
